MC Armor Displays Tank Top Carrier At IWA OutdoorClassics 2022

MC Armor, founded by Mr. Miguel Caballero, is an American and Colombian body armor manufacturer. The company manufactures protective clothing and ballistic vests with the mission of saving as many lives as possible.

At IWA OutdoorClassics 2022, MC Armor showcased their patented tank top concealable carrier from the Gold Collection. BodyArmorNews.com interviewed Mrs. Carolina Ballesteros, MC Armor’s Marketing and Sales Manager in the US to learn more about this product.

What is it made of?

“We use hybrids,” Mrs. Ballesteros explained, “This is a combination of aramids and polyethylene. We’ve created a special hybrid to reduce trauma at the moment of impact and to reduce deformation.

“The tank top is made to be resistant in hot weather because we are specialized in hot temperatures. It also does not get weakened by water or sweat. The hybrid composition effectively ensures a longer life for the vests.

“This product will be tight to the body, and it will resist hot weather, cold weather, water and sweating. The vest is also hypoallergenic and antibacterial so that the user can wear it directly on their skin without having any allergies or rashes.”

‘The perfect tank top’

The tank top is an NIJ 0101.06 certified product with a patented, original design. In 2016, this design won the Red Dot Design Award in Germany. It is very lightweight, flexible, maneuverable and comfortable, enabling users to do their jobs with minimal hinderance.

“It’s very easy to clean,” Mrs. Ballesteros added, “the user only has to remove the ballistic packages and put the carrier into the washing machine. We have PCM capsules to make the vest moisture resistant and decrease 25 percent of sweating. Many of our customers love to wear it when they are off duty too because they feel very comfortable in this tank top.”

Design for female wearers

MC Armor offers vests to suit male and female bodies. They developed this design after testing some shots on the breast area. This is very important because the breast area is not made up of fat or muscle. It’s a tissue that is more susceptible to damage from traumatic impact. It is therefore important to have a design tailor-made for female users.

“I was shot wearing this vest without any extra trauma pad,” Mrs. Ballesteros said, “Normally there are a lot of companies that test their products with a trauma pad and then they sell them without the trauma pad, despite being certified using the trauma pad. “

Oftentimes, people using bulletproof vests don’t factor the fact that trauma-reduction plays a large role in keeping you safe. Even if the vest stops the bullet, the wearer may sustain injuries from trauma.

“With our vest,” Mrs. Ballesteros explained, “the back face deformation is very low. In accordance with the NIJ standards, the maximum allowed back face deformation is 44 mm. But with our vest, it is not more than 23 mm, even with a .44 mag. This value can go down to 9 mm, 10 mm, 13 mm and even 6 mm.”
